CLAT Counselling 2026

CLAT Counselling 2026 is an online, centralised process conducted by the Consortium to allot seats across NLUs based on ranks, preferences, and category norms. After the result, candidates must register, pay the counselling fee, and submit their college choices. Know more about the different steps in the CLAT counselling process below.

1. Registration & Fee PaymentCandidates begin by logging into the CLAT portal, confirming their personal details, and paying the counselling fee. Candidates who pay the fee are liable to get a seat in the NLUs. Candidates cannot apply for the admission process without completing CLAT counselling registrations.

2. Choice Filling & LockingStudents must select NLUs in the exact order of their preference based on their choice. However, one cannot change the choice after it is locked before final seat allotment. Therefore, candidates must research cut-offs and seat availability before finalising.

3. Seat Allotment Round(s)The Consortium considers factors like ranks, category reservations, and locked choices to assign provisional seats. The candidates will be able to check the CLAT seat allotments online. The seat allotment list consists of candidates’ details and assigned NLUs.

4. Acceptance / Upgradation OptionAfter allotment, candidates choose whether to:

  • Accept the seat and freeze it,

  • Opt for upgradation if they wish to choose a higher NLU for admission

  • Exit the process if they do not want admission to the allotted college

5. Document Upload & VerificationCandidates must upload academic certificates, id proof and even category certificate on the portal. The allotted NLU will then verify each of these before final admission merit list.

6. Final Admission & Fee PaymentOnce verification is successful, candidates pay the admission fee directly to the allotted NLU. Candidates have to pay the admission fee to complete the CLAT counselling round.

CLAT Cut Off Marks 2026

CLAT Cut Off Marks 2026 are the minimum scores required for admission to NLUs and other participating universities. These CLAT cut-offs are determined by considering factors, overall difficulty level, total seats and number of candidates. Each NLU sets its own cut-off according to its ranking and seat capacity.
