JEE Advanced 2026 result is prepared on the basis of the raw marks obtained by candidates in both Paper 1 and Paper 2. Marks are calculated according to the official marking scheme prescribed by IIT Roorkee.
The marks secured in each subject are calculated by combining the scores obtained in that subject across both papers:
Physics Marks = Physics score in Paper 1 + Physics score in Paper 2
Chemistry Marks = Chemistry score in Paper 1 + Chemistry score in Paper 2
Mathematics Marks = Mathematics score in Paper 1 + Mathematics score in Paper 2
The aggregate score in JEE Advanced 2026 is calculated by adding the marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics across both papers. The combined score of Paper 1 and Paper 2 determines the candidate's final marks out of 360.
The JEE Advanced 2026 All India Rank (AIR) is determined based on a candidate’s aggregate marks in the examination. Separate rank lists are prepared for the Common Rank List (CRL) and various reserved categories. After the declaration of results, candidates can access their category-wise ranks through the official JEE Advanced portal.
If two or more candidates secure the same aggregate marks, the following tie-breaking criteria are applied:
The candidate with higher positive marks will be awarded the better rank.
If the tie remains unresolved, the candidate with higher marks in Mathematics will receive the higher rank.
If the tie still persists, the candidate with higher marks in Physics will be ranked higher.
If the tie continues even after applying all the above criteria, the candidates will be assigned the same rank.
JEE Advanced 2025 witnessed strong participation from engineering aspirants across the country. A total of 1,87,223 candidates registered for the examination, out of which 1,80,422 appeared in both Paper 1 and Paper 2. Among them, 54,378 candidates successfully qualified for inclusion in the rank list.
